Madeleine VIONNET (1876-1975) Two pencil sketches, one for a coat, the other for a costume Signed "BL. AUBERT" and clapin. Size: 21 x 27 cm and 31 x 21 cm Folds. Madeleine Vionnet (1876-1975) was a fashion pioneer, famous for liberating the female silhouette with the bias-cut. Active during the golden age of Art Deco, in the 1920s and 1930s she created fluid, elegant, corset-free dresses inspired by Greek Antiquity. Her approach, both technical and artistic, made her a major figure in haute couture, whose influence continues to this day. Small fold, small tear.
