INDIA, 19th/20th century - Lot 178
INDIA, 19th/20th century Decorative set consisting of a large frame and a horizontal panel in carved wood, depicting Hindu mythological scenes in high relief. The frame, probably from Tamil Nadu, features animated friezes of divinities, dancers and celestial figures in superimposed registers. The horizontal panel, more finely carved, is probably from Rajastan or Gujarat, with alternating divine figures under arcatures and floral foliage. Hardwood (teak or regional wood), various dark brown to reddish patinas. Some wear, cracks and small chips.
