Einar Johansen for Søholm Glazed stoneware lamp, circa 1960 Total height with socket: 54.5 cm, height without socket: 37 cm, width at base: 12 cm. Elegant glazed stoneware lamp with a slender silhouette, created by Danish designer Einar Johansen for the Søholm factory, based on the island of Bornholm. The long, tapering shaft rests on a flared base with a square cross-section, dressed in a richly nuanced glaze blending deep blue deep blue and earthy tones, with fluid, textured transitions characteristic of the Scandinavian style of the 1950s-60s. The contrast between cool and warm hues lends the piece a warm, sculptural presence.
